Reykjavík, Iceland II

Monday, June 17, 2013

A highlight of Reykjavík was going to the top of the church bell tower to see the candy colored rooftops contrasted against a largely blue natural surrounding. The boxy buildings look like toys, neatly lined up by the hands of a child. Someone had to have planned the placement of each colored block. It's a must if you're in Reykjavík.

To see more suggestions of what to see and do in Reykjavík, check out the post we wrote for SMP Living on Iceland.

Next we will be sharing photos from our time outside the city, exploring Iceland's wilderness.

  12. Hi Julia,

I stumbled upon your blog because my husband and I are leaving for Iceland on Monday morning! We want to hike and adventure around the island to see the amazing nature! What are our top recommendations to us if you have time :)

    Thanks so much!

    1. Lindsay - Awesome! I suggest doing a hike around the Vatnajökull glacier. It's amazing to get up close. We did a hike in Skaftafell National Park, which was not that impressive going up, but was spectacular at the top. I don't remember the name unfortunately. We really wanted to hike in Landmannalaugar (rainbow colored hills!) because it had great reviews but it was too far out of the way. Have a good trip!
